When people talk about the “best” Walt Disney World resorts, the same few names usually come up. The biggest. The fanciest. The most expensive.
But after years of planning Disney vacations for families, couples, and multi-gen trips, I’ve learned something important:
The best Disney resort isn’t always the one with the highest price tag.
My favorites are the resorts that deliver the most magic for real families. The ones where kids are excited just to walk outside. Where transportation is easy. Where value actually matters.
These are the resorts I recommend again and again—and they’re probably not what you’d think.

5. Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort

Caribbean Beach often flies under the radar, but it’s one of the most practical resorts on Disney property.
It’s a moderate resort, which means you get more space and comfort than a value resort without jumping into deluxe pricing. The rooms include ceiling fans, which is a small detail that makes a big difference in Florida’s heat.
The biggest advantage?
Caribbean Beach is the central hub for the Disney Skyliner. Getting to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios is fast, easy, and stress-free.
Why families love it:
- Excellent Skyliner access
- A fantastic main pool kids actually want to spend time at
- Works well for larger families
- Often priced very fairly for a moderate resort
Things to know:
- The resort is large and spread out
- Depending on room location, walks can be longer
If transportation and comfort matter, Caribbean Beach is a strong and often overlooked option.
4. Disney’s POP Century Resort

POP Century is a value resort, but it doesn’t feel like one in the ways that matter most.
The colorful, larger-than-life theming makes it fun for kids, while the retro touches tend to spark nostalgia for adults. And thanks to Skyliner access, POP offers one of the easiest ways to get around Disney without paying deluxe prices.
Why it works so well:
- Skyliner access (which honestly feels like an attraction on its own)
- Bright, playful theming
- Very reasonable pricing
- Great balance of fun and function
The theming isn’t as immersive as some of the other value resorts, but the convenience alone makes POP a favorite.
3. Disney’s All-Star Resorts (Especially All-Star Movies)

All-Star Movies proves that budget-friendly doesn’t have to mean boring.
The theming is bold and fun, and kids love seeing giant characters right outside their rooms. Parents love the price point—and the fact that they’re still fully immersed in Disney magic.
Why All-Star Movies stands out:
- Lowest prices on Disney property
- Big, obvious theming kids adore
- Easy, casual dining options
- You can easily visit the other All-Star resorts
Notable mention:
- All-Star Music family suites are a great option for larger families who want more space without a huge price jump
If your priority is maximizing park time while keeping costs down, All-Star is hard to beat.
2. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

The Polynesian is one of the most talked-about Disney resorts—and for good reason. But it earns its spot here not because it’s fancy, but because of what it offers families.
The pool area is one of the best on property, complete with a volcano slide and a great splash area for kids. The food is consistently excellent. And watching fireworks with the castle in view from the resort is pure Disney magic.
Why people love it:
- Incredible pool and splash pad
- Outstanding dining options
- Fireworks and castle views
- Easy access to Magic Kingdom
Things to consider:
- It is expensive
- It can feel crowded, especially during peak times
If it fits your budget, it’s an unforgettable experience—but it’s not automatically the “best” for every family.
1. Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

Art of Animation is my top pick for a reason.
This resort isn’t just themed—it’s fully immersive. From Finding Nemo to Cars to The Lion King, every section feels like stepping directly into a movie.
Why it’s my favorite:
- The best theming on Disney property
- Amazing for younger kids
- The Little Mermaid rooms offer a more affordable option
- Family suites are perfect for larger families
- One of the cutest pools at Disney
- Easy Skyliner access
- Incredible value for what you get
At Art of Animation, the resort itself becomes part of the vacation—and that’s something a lot of “fancier” resorts don’t deliver.
Why My Favorites Might Surprise You
Most people assume the best Disney resorts are the most expensive ones.
But in real life, the best resorts are the ones that:
- Fit your family’s size and travel style
- Make transportation easier
- Keep kids excited even on non-park days
- Offer the most value for the price
That’s why these are the resorts I recommend most often—and why they consistently lead to happier trips.
