Virgin Voyages is the adults-only cruise line that doesn’t feel like a cruise line. Every Sailor is 18 or older, there’s no buffet or main dining room, and all 20-plus restaurants are included. Think boutique hotel meets beach club, with a little rock ‘n’ roll.

Virgin's private beach club

The Beach Club at Bimini in the Bahamas: a pool, beach cabanas, and food included. Drinks are extra.

What's included, and what isn't

All restaurants, soda, water, juice, drip coffee and tea, group fitness classes, shows and basic Wi-Fi are included. Virgin sells three fare types:

Base: the lowest price.
Essential: better Wi-Fi and more flexibility.
Premium: the best Wi-Fi plus a Bar Tab (drinks credit).

Gratuities are a separate charge, about $20 per person per night if prepaid. Alcohol, specialty coffee, the spa and shore excursions are extra. I’ll help you pick the fare that’s actually worth it.

Scarlet Night. Pack something red, follow the music and let yourself get into it. It’s the kind of night you’ll still be talking about when you get home.

Where I'd eat first

Pink Agave. Give me Mexican food and a good cocktail, and I’m happy. I love that Virgin’s restaurants are included, so you can try something different every night.

Is Virgin really adults-only?

Yes, every Sailor must be 18 or older.

Which fare should I book?

Base if your dates are firm and you want the lowest price. Premium if you’ll use the Bar Tab. I’ll run the numbers with you.

Is there a dress code?

It’s mostly relaxed. The big one is Scarlet Night, when everyone wears red.
