Secrets & Dreams resorts

Secrets and Dreams are sister brands, now part of Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection, so you can even earn World of Hyatt points on your stay. Secrets is adults-only (18+) and romantic. Dreams welcomes families and has kids’ clubs, teen clubs and, at many resorts, water parks. You’ll find them all over Mexico and the Dominican Republic, plus Jamaica, Costa Rica and more.

They often sit right next door to each other, which makes them a great fit for group trips where some people have kids and some don’t.

Secrets: adults-only

Great for couples, honeymoons, girls’ trips and anniversaries
A mix of livelier resorts and quieter ones. I’ll tell you which is which.
Lots of restaurants, rooftop and swim-up bars, and nightly entertainment

What's included

Unlimited dining at the resort’s restaurants, drinks, 24-hour room service, activities and entertainment, and tips and taxes. Spa treatments, off-resort excursions and some premium dining or wine cost extra.

Is Preferred Club worth it?

Preferred Club rooms add a private lounge, better locations, upgraded drinks and a reserved beach or pool area.

Sometimes. I look at the specific resort and the price difference. If the upgraded room location and exclusive spaces are things you’ll use every day, it can be a great upgrade. Preferred Club benefits vary by resort, so I’ll show you exactly what you’re getting before you pay more.

Don’t pick a Secrets or Dreams just because you recognize the name. The beach, pools and overall feel can be very different from one resort to the next. Tell me how you want to spend your days, and I’ll narrow it down.

Favorite Secrets and why

Secrets Maroma Beach. If a beautiful beach and a quieter couples trip are high on your list, this is one I’d look at first.

Favorite Dreams for families

Dreams Playa Mujeres. It has the beach and resort feel the adults want, plus pools, a water park and a kids’ club for the younger travelers.
