If you’re sailing with Carnival Cruise Line and have Celebration Key on your itinerary, this post is for you.
I just visited Celebration Key during Carnival’s Partners in Paradise TA event and walked every single portal with one goal in mind:
“If my clients were here tomorrow, what would they need to know?”
This is not just “a beach stop.” It’s a structured destination with clearly defined areas, different vibes, and a food system that works differently than the ship.
Let’s break it down.

The 5 Portals at Celebration Key
Celebration Key is divided into five “portals.” Where you set up for the day matters.
1. Paradise Plaza™ (Your Starting Point)
This is where you arrive after a 6–10 minute walk from the ship.
Here you’ll find:
- Guest Services & Shore Excursions desk
- Ice cream at Yumshine Scoops
- Live music
- Suncastle waterslides (Flash Flamingo & Mach III Marlin)
- Tram access to other portals
Think of this as your orientation hub. Get your bearings and then move toward your chosen lagoon.

2. Starfish Lagoon™ (Family-Friendly Portal)
If you’re traveling with kids, this is likely your home base.
Features include:
- The largest freshwater lagoon in the Caribbean
- Guppy Grotto splash pad and shallow pool
- Sports courts (basketball, volleyball, pickleball)
- Starfish Beach with complimentary loungers and umbrellas
- Food trucks and Captain’s Galley Food Hall
It’s energetic but well laid out, with plenty of space to spread out.
Lagoon Temperature
Everyone asks.
The day I tested it, the lagoon was 69°F.
The air temperature was about the same. It’s cool, but not unbearable.

3. Calypso Lagoon™ (Adult-Friendly Energy)
Calypso is often misunderstood.
It is not adults-only, but it does skew older and more social.
You’ll find:
- DJ Island
- Swim-up bars
- Sunshine Swings Bar (yes, bar seats are swings)
- Calypso Beach with complimentary loungers
- Full-service dining like Mingo’s Tropical Bar & Kitchen and Surf N’ Sauce BBQ
Important detail:
The southwestern side of Calypso Lagoon (near Mingo’s) is reserved for guests 13+.
If you want music and swim-up bars without going full exclusive beach club, this is your spot.

4. Pearl Cove Beach Club™ (Adults-Only Upgrade)
This is the only fully 18+ area on Celebration Key and requires an additional fee.
Includes:
- Private beach
- Infinity pool
- Swim-up bar
- Elevated dining
- Dedicated poolside and beachside service
If you prefer quieter, elevated, luxury vibes — this is the upgrade worth considering.

5. Lokono Cove™ (Culture + Shopping)
This portal showcases:
- Bahamian artisan market
- Local murals
- Coffee shop
- Duty-free and souvenirs
It feels cultural and thoughtfully designed, not just a retail strip.

How Island Eats™ Works (This Is Important)
Celebration Key does not operate like the ship.
You do not have unlimited included food.
Each guest receives one Island Eats™ credit, which can be used for:
- One complimentary fast-casual meal (entrée + side + cookie)
OR - 40% off one entrée at a full-service restaurant
Fast-casual options include:
- Captain’s Galley Food Hall
- Food trucks
- Snack Shacks and Beach Shacks
Full-service restaurants include:
- Mingo’s Tropical Bar & Kitchen
- Surf N’ Sauce BBQ & Brews
- Gill’s Grill
Pearl Cove Beach Club dining is tied to beach club access.
Once you use your Island Eats credit, any additional food is extra.
Also important:
Onboard beverage packages (including Cheers!) do not extend to Celebration Key.

Logistics & Practical Tips
Here are things many cruisers don’t realize:
- 6–10 minute walk from ship to Paradise Plaza
- Trams run continuously between portals
- Beach chairs and umbrellas are complimentary
- Lockers are available (with charging ports)
- Onboard WiFi carries over
- The Carnival HUB app still works
- Beach wheelchairs available first-come, first-served
- Smoke-free destination except designated areas

My Honest Advisor Take
Celebration Key is structured. It’s organized. And your experience depends entirely on choosing the right portal and understanding how the food system works.
If you go in with a plan, it’s a very well-designed stop.
If you show up assuming it works like the ship, you may be surprised.
And that’s exactly why I walk these destinations myself , so my clients don’t have to guess.
